Free Events in NoMa This Week: Art Opening and Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour

WASHINGTON, DC, October 20, 2014: Join your NoMa neighbors for happy hour this week at a Lobby Project art opening on Tuesday, October 21 between 6 and 8 PM, and the annual Pumpkin Carving Party on Thursday, October 23 between 4 and 7 PM.

Lobby Project Art Opening featuring Michael Crossett:
Join local art lovers to celebrate the newest art installation in the Lobby Project. The art opening features art by Michael Crossett, a Washington, DC-based painter, photographer and graphic designer. The event is free and open to the public, and light fare and drinks will be provided. RSVP for the opening here.

NoMa’s art openings, part of the Lobby Project, display original works from DC and Baltimore artists. Since 2013, the Lobby Project has brought comfortable furniture, great art and programming to the lobby of 1200 First Street, NE through a partnership with Washington Project for the ArtsThe Lobby Project is made possible through a grant from the DC Office of Planning. Additional support comes from Union KitchenAyers Saint GrossUncle Chip’sInterface and Polinger Shannon & Luchs.

Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour:
Visit NoMa’s annual Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour on Thursday, October 23 and carve a free pumpkin! Pumpkins, carving utensils, live music, petting zoo and scavenger hunt are free. Enjoy delicious food and seasonal alcoholic beverages (for the over 21 crowd)  from Union Kitchen bar and vendors Nutrition Synergies (savory and sweet menu items) and The Popcorn Queens, which will be available for purchase. The Pumpkin Carving will take place on the grassy field at 1100 First Street, NE from 4-7 PM

Don’t want to get your hands in pumpkin guts? This year’s Pumpkin Carving Party offers plenty of other free activities including live bluegrass music from the Page County Ramblersface painting, bunnies, chicks, sheep and more at the cutest petting zoo in the city, and a candyscavenger hunt at 5 PM.

Free pumpkins and carving kits will be given to the first 300 attendees, so reserve your pumpkin today. Unreserved pumpkins will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
