Dance Place’s Open House September 29th

Dance Place opens its doors for a day of free events, classes and performance.

Dance Place’s Open House and Brookland Family Day takes place on September 29, 2012, offering a full program of free classes for adults and kids, outdoor activities and an afternoon sampler performance by some of Dance Place’s most popular companies.

Free Adult and Kids’ Classes (10:00am – 3:30pm)

FREE Adult Classes
10 - 10:45am: Modern Dance with Carla Perlo
11 - 11:45am: Afro Jazz with Ralph Glenmore
12 - 12:45pm: Zumba with Shawna Williams
1 - 1:45pm: African Dance with Sylvia Soumah
2 - 2:30pm: Hoop Dance with Carla Perlo (Family Class)
3 - 3:30pm: Hip-Hop with Simone Jacobson (Family Class)

FREE Kids Classes
10 - 10:45am: Creative Movement
11 - 11:45am: Ballet / Tap
12 - 12:45pm: Step
1 - 1:45pm: African Dance with Coyaba
Free Outdoor Activities (10:00am – 4:00pm):
Balloon Sculpture, Juggling, Hoop Making, Jewelry Making, Line Dancing and much more!



Free Sampler Performance (4:00-5:00pm):
This free performance provides a taster of some of the work on stage at Dance Place. Featured artists include Dance Place resident companies Coyaba Dance Theater (African dance) and REVISION dance company (modern dance), the award-winning Dance Place Step Team and the Dance Place Hoopers. The performance ends with an audience participatory Line Dancing finale led by Lorenzo Evans.
